Registration for the East Coast CAN Conference

With just one and a half short weeks until the conference, the time to
register has come! If your chapter needs housing, please be sure to register
asap. Of course, in the next week, we’ll all be trying to register more
people on our campuses for the conference; please send in some initial
registration anyway and let us know if you think more people will be making
their way down, so that we can find them housing as well. Also, if possible,
please select one person in your chapter to coordinate registration for the
entire chapter. That person should fill out this “form” below and email it
back it Thepoetsdaugh@gmail.com (me) as soon as possible (the flier
specifies a different email for registration. Please save us some time and
send it here). Also, please let us know how you’re getting down to New York
City. At the protest this saturday, we hope to meet folks from all over the
east coast who will want to make it down to the conference. It would be
great to be able to hook them up with folks who have rides (and who might
have an extra seat in their van/car/bus etc).

Also, please send the contact info for everyone coming. We don’t want to
lose anyone over the weekend or while they’re on their way down to NYC.

Chapter: (Just once will suffice)
Name: (of each person coming down)
Contact Info: (ditto)
Special Needs: (Allergies, Accessibility concerns, Bed v. floor issues etc)
Housing?: (Do they need it?)
Workshop/Panel: Is your chapter putting on a workshop panel?
Transportation: How are you getting down to NYC?

Also, if someone is an experienced chair, please put a “C” next to their
name or indicate it somewhere in the email.

If your chapter needs housing, you must send your registration or an email
with a head count (at least) in by Sunday, March 22nd, at 11:59pm.

I’ve also attached two fliers. With only a few days until the conference,
chapters should be trying to figure out how they can best build the
conference on their campuses. A few suggestions would be:

1. Putting up fliers on campus and having them on tablings.
2. Figuring out antiwar or activist events on campus or in your community
that you can attend and spread the word about the conference. For example,
there’s going to be a rally at Hunter next week. We plan to go make an
announcement about the conference and give out as many fliers as we can.
3. Make classroom announcments. There are plenty of people on campus who
would like to get involved with antiwar activism on campus but don’t know
how.
4. Print fliers and bring them down on March 21st! CAN will surely be
building one of the most spirited contingents at the demo on Saturday. Let’s
tell folks about our conference and get them involved with the antiwar
movement!

If anyone has any questions or concerns, please email the folks planning the
conference: 2009-east-coast-can-conference@googlegroups.com
